Make it Happen

Graphic Designers create Mood Boards everyday for client pitches, this is how they win business! Surely you want this same thing for your own hopes and dreams so let's get started.

From yesterday's task, you are on the lookout for [...]
material to make your visualisations real! Some examples include magazines, flyer's, phrases, words or colours you love. Keep it all aside for your Mood Board!

(If you have no idea what I'm going on about - check out my Pinterst Mood Boards here to get some ideas of pictures and words - click here)

Today we learn what we need for the next step.

What the rock is Mood Board you may ask?
Mood boards enable a person to illustrate visually the direction of style which they are pursuing for their dreams. It is a real manifestation of your dreams on paper.

Using words and pictures that appeal to you, you make your dream more real to you by creating a collage of real images. This can be done on a large piece of cardboard or inside your  Book of Glory  if you prefer.

What do I need to begin?
This is my favourite part as I love and adore stationary! Raid your work cupboard or go to the stationary shop at lunch. The list is simple.
  • scissors
  • glue
  • blue tack or prestik as we say in South Africa
  • a large piece of cardboard (size up to you)
  • gold and silver pens if you are that way inclined
Remember you are going to be sticking inside your cupboard, in a locker or next to your bed. Wherever you feel most comfortable putting it so keep that in mind when choosing the size of the card.

How do I start?
wisegeek.com says the following "Don't rationalise your choices, but pick colours, shapes, words and pictures that you feel drawn to. Anything goes and creating your own mood board can help your learn more about your self and your style."

How on earth do I know where to start?
This is simple - go back to the Feng Shui Bagua Grid we printed out a week or so back (Print the Grid again here) (Remember the detailed categories here)

We taking it one day at a time so all you have to do today is take a pencil and draw rough lines that divide your cardboard paper into the nine sections as per the grid.

This will allow you to have focus for different pictures in each segment.

In this way you can look for words, colours swatches and phrases that relate to the nine areas.

This is as far as we going today so familiarise yourself again with the 9 areas of life according to Feng Shui below and grid your piece of cardboard with a pencil and then tomorrow we will get cracking on the next step, working from the middle out.
